The Seattle Boat Show, January 27 – February 4, 2017, is still several weeks off, but already there is a palpable buzz among the Pacific Northwest boating community. The anticipation has only amplified since the release of this year’s seminar schedule. With 36 fresh topics and 17 new presenters, the lineup has more to offer than ever before.
The brand new topics vary depending on category. The technology section is particularly robust, ranging from modern-mariner essentials like “Ten Tips for Using AIS on Your Boat” to “iPhones, iPads, and Boats: Tips from a Twenty-Something Cruiser.” Safety seminars cover such topics as man overboard procedures and cruising considerations for children. Experienced cruisers have plenty to offer in seminars like “Around Vancouver Island as a Family” and more.
Prominent to the new lineup is the new Offshore Sailing Forum, a two-hour panel featuring active and experienced cruisers John and Amanda Neal, Andy and Jill Cross, Will Curry, and moderator Sarah Curry. They will be talking about it all, from planning typical cruising budgets to prioritizing important skills to staying safe. What’s more, a whopping 60 fishing seminars are slated to give attendees the inside scoop on how to score that lingcod or full pot of crab.
What’s more, all of these new seminars (and more) are free to Seattle Boat Show attendees. What is not free, but still exciting, is the continuation of Boat Show University’s three-hour seminars and all-day training sessions. The show is bringing out the big guns with local icons like Mark Bunzel, editor of the Waggoner Guide, and Jeff Renner, former KING 5 meteorologist. The three-hour programs are $39 each while day-long training sessions, like Diesel and Electrical Troubleshooting, are $100.
The Seattle Boat Show 2017 seems poised to once again raise the bar and may even shatter previous attendance records.
