At the time of this writing, a brand-new Riviera 5400 Sport Yacht is tucked aboard a trans-Pacific shipping vessel departing its native Australia. The 5400 is en route for the West Coast to join the fleet of Seattle dealer Emerald Pacific Yachts. Considered the big sister of the new Riviera 4800 Sport Yacht (that we wrote about in our November 2017 Arrivals section), these mid-sized luxury yachts emphasize sporty performance and spacious, high-quality accommodations.
Fun is the general impression upon a first glance of the 5400. Like the smaller 4800, the electric tender garage built into the transom is an enticing feature, especially for a boat this size.
A generous, hydraulic swimstep aft with a recessed stainless steel swim ladder has easy access to the covered cockpit seating. One can walk forward upon either port or starboard walkways (with high railings, a good safety feature) to the open lounge seating of the bow.
The aforementioned cockpit seating is about as expansive as it gets, with wraparound seating near a large table and a summer galley (complete with epic BBQ grill station). On a nice day, the skipper can open a sun hatch over the cockpit seating and the cabin’s glass panel to essentially join both the interior and exterior spaces. The full galley, more seating, and racecar-style helm station are located inside. Notable among the accommodations is the king-sized island berth of the master suite forward.
As far as power is concerned, the 5400 comes with a Volvo Penta propulsion system with twin IPS-800 D11 engines and pod drives as standard. There are joystick steering controls both at the main helm in the cabin and at a cockpit control station.
If you’re looking around for a mid-sized sport yacht with great-looking accommodations, the new Riviera 5400 Sport Yacht may be calling your name. If you’re interested, check out local dealer Emerald Pacific Yachts for more information and pricing at emeraldpacificyachts.com.
