One of our favorite companies, Outer Reef Yachts, has decided to open a facility in one of our favorite cities in South America, Cartagena, Columbia. Don’t go all Romancing the Stone or drug cartels on us, Columbia has changed a bunch since that time and is now a place that many US citizens consider for retirement. The climate is great, the country borders both the Caribbean and the Pacific, the food is incredible, and above all else the people are great.

While in Taiwan, we had the opportunity to tour the Tania Yacht Company where the Outer Reef Yachts are built and while some yachts are built for “show,” Outer Reefs are not only gorgeously crafted, they are also built to take their owners just about anywhere in the world they want to go. According to Data Monitor Financial 2014, the Colombian wealth market’s value is forecasted to grow robustly during 2011-2015, second only to the Brazilian market, out of the countries studied in the database. The number of affluent individuals is forecasted to grow at a compounded rate of 10.6% over the same period.
