Evinrude owners, both current and future, rejoice, for the NMEA 2000-compatible Evinrude E-Tec G2 outboard E-Link hardware and app system is here. The E-Link is essentially an electronic super-gauge for Evinrude outboards that has even more features than a fixed dashboard system. The NMEA 2000 Wi-Fi gateway puts all G2 gauges, calibrations, and fault codes into Evinrude’s free E-Link app. This means that you get all the data from your hardworking Evinrude motor while you’re underway, even if you have a multiple-outboard system.
The really exciting thing about the E-Link is that it is open-source. Evinrude is seeking to integrate your outboard with multifunction displays from manufacturers ranging from Furuno to Simrad with your devices at no additional cost. This means that your engine rpm, fuel flow, trim position, oil level, battery voltage, water depth, and more is available just about anywhere. Trip logs assist boaters with fuel consumption and distance-travelled calculations, and the ability to send engine data to the nearest dealer or service team are just a few of the useful features.
What’s not to like? The price is around $360 and more information is available at evinrude.com.
