James Clark is setting the bar in the 100-footer class, at least in terms of rushing a boat through design, construction, launch and development. Comanche was designed by Guillaume Verdier and Marc Van Peteghem and Vincent Lauriot-Prévost (VPLP) and built by Hodgdon Yachts in Maine. Most importantly, she’s being skippered by Ken Read. Assuming everything comes together including transport of the boat to Australia, Comanche will be one of 5 viable candidates for first to finish honors. The others are Wild Oats, Rio 100, Ragamuffin (with a new hull) and the ex-Speedboat/Rambler. It should be very interesting. This Onne van der Wal and Tate MacDowell video shows Comanche‘s launch in Boothbay.
