Long known as a team player in the Western Washington community, First Federal Savings & Loan (better known as “First Federal”) has announced a new sponsorship for the 2018 Race to Alaska. The North Olympic Peninsula-based banking institution has sponsored R2AK since the inaugural season in 2015. Now they are offering a team sponsorship to encourage additional race participation. This generous support includes race registration and team promotion activities, including featured placement in two exclusive team videos, one of which will be a Clip of the Day during the race.
“This race…is a true Pacific Northwest experience for both spectators and participants,” according to Derek Brown, Senior Vice President at First Federal. “We believe there are racers out there who are perfect for this event and whose participation would add to the excitement of the journey for everyone, but who may need some support to get them into the race and up to Ketchikan.” First Federal and race officials have announced a video contest for the sponsorship.
Race Boss Daniel Evans says that any team that has applied and accepted is eligible to enter the contest. “All they have to do is create a video and send it in to enter.” Derek Brown adds a video submission requirement: “Just be amazing. We suspect that you’re incredible, so show us.”
Submissions will be accepted through March 1, 2018. The winning team video will be selected March 15. More information can be found at r2ak.com. The Race to Alaska is organized by the Northwest Maritime Center, a non-profit organization in Port Townsend, Washington, whose mission is to engage people in maritime activities. The next R2AK race start is scheduled for June 14, 2018, at 05:00 hours. Don’t miss the latest promo video, also at r2ak.com.
