The Northwest sailing community was stunned when sailmaker and accomplished racer Doug Christie died suddenly June 14th. There’s more on his life in the August issue of Northwest Yachting magazine, by fellow sailors Alex Simanis and Andy Schwenk.

A celebration of Doug’s life will be held on August 16 at the Seattle Yacht Club Outstation at Elliott Bay Marina. There will be a flotilla to 4 Mile Rock. People will be seeking boat rides to attend, so anyone with a boat with extra room is encouraged to accommodate. Pick up and drop off for this can happen at the fuel dock at Elliott Bay Marina. Neptune’s Car will be leaving the fuel dock with Doug’s family aboard at 1pm and dropping them off at 3pm. A gathering will be held at the SYC outstation afterward.
