Neptune gave the Black Star Regatta on Olympia’s Budd Inlet great sailing (and photographic) conditions for the April 25-27 regatta. These photos are but a tiny sampling of some excellent work from Jan Anderson. For those who are unfamiliar with the Budd Inlet Star Fleet, it is an extremely active fleet of Star boats, many old wooden Stars rebuilt by Bill Brosius. Costs to compete are by definition minimal and the boats are wet-sailed. Here are Jan’s thoughts after shooting for the day: “Blue skies, gray clouds, broad smiles, and BLACK STAR! As usual, Budd Inlet dished up a variety of conditions to challenge the fleet, and the fleet won!! Always a treat to shoot this event – enjoy” Derek DeCouteau and crew Michelle Apodaca won the 20-boat event.
