The Beneteau Gran Turismo 46 is a modern-style sport cruiser with a plethora of customizable luxury accommodations. As one approaches, the exterior’s emphasis on open space for guests becomes apparent. The large foredeck features lounge space for sunbathers and walkways complete with rails lead to the cockpit aft. A large swim step with island-style transom seating at the stern blends into the covered area forward. The helm and ample cushioned seating are located around a large family-style table made to entertain.
One descends a set of stairs into the salon where the fully-loaded galley awaits, complete with refrigerator/freezer and optional oven/grill. Choose from a few different layouts that alter the number of cabins (two or three). Two enclosed heads are standard. The interior definitely has a modern, Euro feel with an emphasis on comfort and space.
The manufacturer is quick to tout their copyright Air Step 2 Technology incorporated into the hull design. The concept is to funnel air flow under the hull that purportedly helps the Gran Turismo 46 accelerate faster. She is pushed along with twin Volvo IPS 600 or Z-Drive engines, up to 400 horsepower apiece.
With a reported cruise speed of 30 knots and a maximum speed of 34, and the generous accommodations listed prior, the Beneteau Gran Turismo 46 certainly belongs in the sport cruiser category.
