Sunday, August 10: artist, author, and naval architect James Cole talks about the history of fishing vessels of the Puget Sound and Alaska.
The Foss Waterway Seaport is honored to host Jim Cole, who will talk about fishing vessels of the Pacific Northwest, and in particular those from Tacoma. James (Jim) Cole is a native of Tacoma and graduated from the University of Washington and works as a naval architect. Jim is an accomplished artist, maritime historian, and author, writing a series of over 40 articles for Fisherman’s News and recently authored the book “Drawing on Our History – Fishing Vessels of the Pacific Northwest and Alaska”, which features his art and writings.
“Drawing on Our History” is a must-have addition to anyone interested in Northwest and maritime history. A captivating speaker, Jim indulges the his audience with combining a mastery of maritime history with the artistry of his original architectural drawings and paintings. Jim is semi-retired at the age of 83 and still works part-time as a naval architect.
