The ‘Vous (rendezvous, that is) season is fast upon us. And while some gather around an interest or a club affiliation, there are a great many that revolve around a manufacturer. From Bayliners to Beneteaus, these gatherings can be huge and hugely fun. So, as they come in we’ll post them here and on our calendars. (If you’re an event organizer, email me.)
Here’s the lowdown on the Ericson (sailboats) rendezvous at Maple Bay Marina on Vancouver Island. It’s a great cruising destination and you have to be at least a little charmed by sailors who refer to themselves as Vikings. That viking helmet remains one of the most distinctive logos!:

It’s official! The 2014 Ericson Rendezvous will take place on June 28 and 29 at Maple Bay Marina!
Vikings are encouraged to contact the friendly folks at Maple Bay Marina as soon as possible to book moorage. Moorage is $1.40/foot and power is $6/night for 30 amp and $4/night for 15 amp. The marina has a dock dedicated to guest moorage and it is our goal to not leave room on that dock for any boat that isn’t an Ericson!
So grab your credit card and give the marina a call toll free at 866-746-8482 to make your reservation or email them at info@maplebaymarina.com.
For those of you not yet acquainted with Maple Bay Marina, you will be pleasantly surprised at its idyllic setting and friendly atmosphere, for those who have had the good fortune of experiencing the marina’s hospitality, it will be like returning home. The marina has all the services you need – fuel, chandlery, coffee shop, grocery store, laundry, showers and The Shipwreck Pub! The marina is located approximately 20 nautical miles distant from Port Sidney via Sansum Narrows (between Saltspring Island and Vancouver Island).
For our U.S. visitors, you may clear customs either at Port Sidney or Bedwell Harbour, South Pender Island. If you are fortunate enough to be making this weekend part of an extended vacation and are clearing customs on Friday, you may wish to spend the night at Port Sidney Marina or Poets Cove Marina (Bedwell Harbour) before continuing on to Maple Bay. In the alternative, there are mooring buoys and plenty of anchorage in Bedwell Harbour or you can anchor at Sidney Spit just off Port Sidney. There are mooring buoys at Sidney Spit however, we do not recommend their use by sailboats due to their shallow locations.
We look forward to renewing old friendships and making new ones! See you in Maple Bay!
