Meet Margene, a well-appointed, beautifully updated motor yacht available from Worth Avenue Yachts that you can hop aboard at this month’s Boats Afloat show.

This 63’ Nordlund Pilothouse may be approaching 40 years of age, but several extensive rounds of major overhauls at the Nordlund Shipyard, plus a 2021-2022 refit with new equipment and interiors, make the graceful Margene look like it just launched yesterday.
The wide beam provides plenty of room for lounging in the deep-well cockpit or strolling along the teak sidedecks, which were refinished in 2016. The swim step is large enough to park a 15’ Novurania RIB, with a 60hp Yamaha outboard, plus an Olson davit.
Stepping into the salon, visitors are greeted by the luxury stylings of both a 2009 refit and a 2021-2023 update from local interior designers John Pokela and Mary Flores, including padded carpeting. A custom-designed, L-shaped sofa dominates the starboard side, opposite a hi/lo TV and entertainment center and two club chairs. A set of three barstools directs your attention forward to a granite bar connecting the salon and galley.
Up two steps from the salon, a wet bar to port features a U-Line icemaker and a custom circular sink. Immediately to starboard is the updated galley with an open view of the salon area. Some of the all-new galley amenities include a stainless steel sink, a Bosch induction cooktop, a GE convection microwave, a full size Fischer Paykel refrigerator and freezer, a Frigidaire dishwasher, and a GE trash compactor.
Two more steps up and forward locates the pilothouse, where the main dining area is located aft of the helm, with a high-gloss dining table and a plush C-shaped settee. The redesigned main helm boasts a new suite of Garmin and Furuno displays and navigation equipment, along with a satellite compass, Simrad AP70 and AP80 control heads, A2004 autopilot, and controls for the Wesmar 10” bow thruster and the Side-Power stern thruster. Twin leather helm seats from Stidd provide excellent visibility and access to the wooden ship’s wheel.
An aft staircase leads to Margene’s flybridge, with its own similar upper-helm configuration. A new Sunbrella canvas Bimini provides shade and partial cover from the elements. With the tender secured to the swim step below, the expansive aft flybridge deck has loads of room for socializing on a comfy indoor/outdoor sofa and side chairs.
Belowdecks, three staterooms can accommodate up to six people. The owner’s stateroom at the bow features a walkaround queen-size berth and six opening hatches for ventilation. The en suite head has been heavily refitted to include a large custom tile shower and glass doors, a Toto bidet, and new fixtures. The midship VIP stateroom also has walkaround queen berth and an en suite head with a recently enlarged walk-in shower. The third guest cabin has over/under bunk berths and access to the yacht’s day head, with a separate shower stall.
Aft and down a few steps from the staterooms is a roomy workshop space, with a large workbench, a deep freezer tucked underneath, space for tool storage, and a full-size Bosch washer and dryer to starboard. Aft of the workshop is the engine room, where Margene’s twin Detroit Diesel 8V92TA engines, which had a major overhaul in 1996, reside. Originally rated at 730hp each, the engines were detuned to 650hp for extended life and additional power, allowing the boat to cruise at 12 knots and go full throttle to 22 knots at the top end.
