Designed with elegant, flowing contours in a color palette of silver, grey, black, and white, the new Riviera 5400 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition is the apex of luxury for the Australian sport-yacht maker.
Looking aft from the forward deck, there is an uninterrupted sightline through the salon to the teak-decked alfresco cockpit. A sporty hardtop overhead offers shade and shelter when needed and can be opened to blue skies with an electric sunroof. The forward-facing transom lounge includes a stereo with two cockpit speakers, plus an L-shaped settee, a dual electric BBQ, and a wet bar. Wide walk-around decks bring you safely to a spacious forward deck that allows room for sunbathing on padded backrests or an added lounge area for guests.
In the salon, a cocktail cabinet is located to port, next to dual fridges and a built-in wine cooler. The adjacent L-shaped leather lounge is set around a polished, handcrafted timber dining table (An electric hi-lo table, which can convert into a day bed, is optional). An LED television can be accessed via an electric swing arm, complete with Blu Ray and five-speaker surround sound.
The U-shaped galley, equipped with a range of designer European appliances, has an aft-facing open space to allow the chef to converse with friends in the salon and cockpit. The area also features new waterfall benchtops and highly polished walnut cabinetry.
Companionway steps lead down to the berths, lit naturally via a glass atrium overhead. The full-beam master stateroom offers spectacular views on both sides and features a king-size island bed with matching bedside tables and a chaise lounge. The deep plush pile carpeting and timber cabinetry adds coziness, with a fully integrated home theatre system at hand. The en suite master head includes a frameless glass shower stall and solid surface bench tops above the vanity basin. Forward is the VIP stateroom, with an en suite head, a queen-size island berth, LED TV/DVD, and an iPod interface. The third stateroom is ideal for children and extra guests, with adult-sized upper and lower berths.
The helm features ergonomic Alcantara-and-leather Recaro skipper chairs and joystick controls for the twin, pod-driven Volvo Penta D11-IPS800 diesel engines. An Inboard Propulsion System (IPS) allows each of the two propellers to turn independently to provide precise thrust. IPS also offers a dynamic positioning feature to hold a given position while the skipper is occupied elsewhere. For optimum control, Volvo Penta’s Glass Cockpit system has an easy-to-use interface with various navigational aids, including GPS, sounder, radar, and autopilot, all integrated with the IPS system. The Auto Guidance feature, based on the yacht’s draft, searches through all relevant charts to avoid shallow water, buoys, and other known obstacles.
