Created by an internationally renowned design team, the new MY6 catamaran available from Sundance Yachts features an abundance of space, plus extraordinary fuel efficiency for long-range blue water cruising.
The MY6 (formerly called the MY 44) is the latest power catamaran offered by France’s revered Fountaine Pajot and features luxury accommodations and long-range, open ocean cruising capabilities.
Designed by the legendary naval architects Daniel Andreiu and PierAngelo Andreani, the MY6 offers an unprecedented amount of living space for a multihull vessel. The flybridge, measuring nearly 130 square feet, enables spectacular open-air views of the horizon, as well as room for a sunpad lounge, a table, starboard seating, and one of boat’s two helm stations. Another sunpad can be found on the lounge deck in the forward cockpit.
A curved staircase provides access from the flybridge to the aft cockpit area, equipped with padded benches and plenty of room for an optional table. The swim platform is hydraulically equipped to be lowered to the water or can be used to store a dinghy crane. Inside, MY6’s beam of 21’7″ allows for a salon encompassing a generous 215 square feet, with a comfortable L-shaped couch in the lounge, a flatscreen TV that can be hidden behind a wall panel, an adjustable dining table to fit eight people, and a galley that opens directly onto the aft cockpit. The galley includes a full-size refrigerator for long trips, a cooktop, and a stove, as well as space for an optional microwave.
In the passageway, the berths offer full sea-facing views through panoramic windows yet still provide voluminous storage space. The 161-square-foot owner’s suite on the port includes a king-size bed, a wall-mounted TV, and an en suite head with a shower stall. The two VIP bedrooms on starboard have island queen or double beds, plus their own en suite heads. Another forward storage space, with access to the salon, can also be converted into a small stateroom for children.
At the main helm, the electronics package includes the standard Volvo Penta 500 (or optional 600) IPS controls, providing easy maneuvering for skippers of any experience level. Lateral movements at the dock can be made with the simple push of the joystick. On the water, the twin Volvo engines and the semi-displacement hulls deliver outstanding stability in all sea conditions, even at the top speed of 30 knots. The fuel-efficient MY6 is designed specifically for long-range, blue-water cruising, with a range of up to 2,000 nautical miles on a single fuel tank.
