The 2017 Riviera 43’ Open Flybridge is arriving to the Emerald Pacific Yachts docks in San Diego this month and there’s much to be excited about. The Open Flybridge is a mid-sized motoryacht with a sportboat feel that’ll get you to your desired cruising grounds in no time, whether you’re after salmon or just need a weekend escape.
A key emphasis to the layout of the Open Flybridge is making the al fresco lifestyle a reality. Generous deck space on the bow, a large swim deck and cockpit, and the open (but covered) flybridge are all meant to be luxuriated upon, and seek to blend the interior with exterior. The namesake open flybridge is made to entertain with plenty of seating and even a mini wet bar.
The accommodations inside include the luxurious master stateroom forward, complete with raised walk-around queen bed and en suite head. Cedar woodworking and high-quality carpeting and upholstery are standard. The galley is fully loaded with appliances like dual electric stovetop elements, a refrigerator and freezer combination, and dish washer and dryer. The salon is designed for relaxation and features a large U-shaped, leather upholstered sofa, two bar stools, and a large flat screen TV with surround sound system.
But she isn’t just good looks. The Open Flybridge is propelled by a top-of-the-line Volvo Penta D6-IPS600 twin engine system. The two D6 engines and IPS10 pod-drives dish out 435 horsepower apiece. Each coupled gear pod spins forward-facing, counter-rotating, nibral alloy three-blade propellers that can be controlled via wheel or joystick. Access to the engines is simply a matter of opening the electric-powered hatch to expose the engine room. The hull shape is worth mentioning, for enhanced chine strakes are part of the hull aft. All of these design considerations translate to a fuel consumption of 35 gallons per hour at 27 knots. Sea Keeper 5 Gyro Stablizers are standard.
The vessel has all kinds of modern touches, such as state-of-the-art CZone digital technology that allows the skipper to control everything from interior mood lighting, minute tweaks of the IPS system, and the stero system with a simple tap of the display screen.
There’s a lot going on aboard this beauty, and she has come a long way from her workboat heritage. She’s all fun and games now and is ready to go wherever you want.
